I truly thought hating your printer was a way of life. I thought everything from the moment you tried to set up the wireless printing to the moment you realize you have a paper due the next morning at 8AM hard copy and had no ink was pure PAIN.
Years later, I start selling on TPT, which is great and fantastic and wonderful and exciting… until I go to print my new product and it looks NOTHING like it does on my screen.
My printer wasn’t always this bad. Let me back up. The printer I purchased 3 years ago used to be pretty good. I don’t think it gave me the most vibrant of pages, but it sure did work. This summer I went to stay with my boyfriend in North Carolina. I drove and knew I was going to have lots of time for TPT so I brought my printer. I’m pretty sure an Austin, TX to NC drive in June does not do well for printers and ink. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR INK IN A HOT CAR. PERIOD. Don’t. Either way, my printer was already off. You do not want to know how many hours I spent trying to make it right after that trip. I bought new ink and used almost all of it on just TEST PRINTING! This is not right people.
Going back to Austin I decided to put my ink into plastic bags.. Well, it all exploded. $$Buys new ink AGAIN$$. This is insane.. I spent most of the night trying to “clean” the printer and get a good quality print, but it was not happening. This is what I was getting after about an hour of messing with my printer…
Earlier in the week I had seen a post talking about HP Instant Ink. The woman on instagram didn’t specify what printer she had been using but I was drooling over what came out of that baby. Mine did not look like that, and man was I trying to print my new teacher toolbox labels!
After a long bachelorette weekend for my brother’s fiancé, I came home, and went right to Staples. I wasn’t sure what printer I was looking for, but decided on the HP OfficeJet4650. It was normally $99.99, on sale for $79.99 but they even price matched it for me to $59.99! I was so happy! I also purchased an HP Instant Ink Enrollment card for $9.99. I couldn’t wait to get home and set up my new printer and print my toolbox labels!
**Below are your three options for instant ink plans. I chose the highest one because I print everything I make on TPT before I put it up for sale, as well as my own personal use things. This seemed to be the best for me AND if you sign up for 300 pages at first- thats what you get for your free months! I may go down to 100 pages a month after I see how these months go, but the extra pages roll over up to 300 a month!**
After setting up my brand new shiny beautiful printer, my first order of business was my labels. Let me just SHOW YOU what I got… I WAS DROOLING! OVER MY OWN PRINT! (See picture on left below)
HOW. AMAZING?! Order of business #2, set up my instant ink! I excidedly tear open the card and start going to town on the scratch off strip with my key sitting right next to me. (Don’t do that). I tore off so much that I couldn’t read the first 4 digits/letters and I felt like I might cry. Notice how crazy I went trying to get to that enrollment code! Unfortunately, it was now past 7:30pm central time, and both HP and Staples customer service’s were closed for the night. Womp womp!
I woke up bright and early and called HP. After simply asking a few questions, this fabulous man on the other end of the phone gave me a brand new enrollment code! He told me he was going to stay on the phone until the end so that I would be sure to add another friend’s code for a free month of ink!
Well.. the enrollment code (that I paid $9.99 for) gave me my first month, and because I set it up within a week it gave me a second free month! At the end of the enrollment process it asks for a PROMO code, so I added my friends, giving me a THIRD month. My beautiful printer comes with 3 FREE MONTHS automatically! AND to top it off, this fantastic guy gave me another code for 3 MORE FREE MONTHS! When all said and done..
I have NINE MONTHS of printing 300 pages a month and all I paid was $9.99 for the first month/enrollment card! Instead of running to Staples or Walmart at all hours of the day and night for $30-40 of ink every month, I now have this! I am able to print 2,700 pages for the next NINE MONTHS and I only paid $9.99! Thank you HP! I recommend calling if you have any trouble, especially because they’re most likely going to provide you with some great free months!
If you’re looking into getting an HP Instant Ink printer and have any questions, please comment and I will do my best to answer! If you sign up for Instant Ink and would like ANOTHER free month from me, please use my referral code which is below! ENJOY and HAPPY PRINTING!
